Enanta is based in Massachusetts, a state which requires some of the broadest health plan protection in the U.S. All our employees are required to have some form of healthcare coverage under our state law. Talent Recruitment
Enanta realizes the importance of recruiting talented individuals to further its mission. The Company has a formal hiring plan process that is part of its annual budgeting. The plan is approved annually by the Chief Executive Officer and Board of Directors. Enanta also offers internships and has a program as part of the Company’s talent recruitment and development process.
Training and Leadership Development
Enanta is committed to providing leadership development training for its employees. The Company offers employee tuition reimbursement for degree programs and certifications relevant to the career field. Reimbursement may cover costs of educational credits to maintain certification. We encourage all employees to stay current in their field with certifications.
Leadership Development training also is available to all employees and includes programs such as Leaders-in-Motion, Managers-in-Motion and Teams-in-Motion programs; Effective Collaboration; Teamwork/Building; Direct Communication with Respect; Candidate Interviewing training; and a host of other “soft skills” training. In addition, Enanta offers compliance-based training to all employees in the areas of Anti-Harassment, Environmental, Health & Safety, Active Threat Response, Insider Trading and Ethics & Conduct.
Human Rights
Enanta is committed to developing an organizational culture of human dignity, specifically one which implements a policy of support for internationally recognized human rights and seeks to avoid complicity in human rights abuses. Although we believe that governments around the world bear primary responsibility for safeguarding human rights, we acknowledge the corporate responsibility to respect human rights as articulated in the United Nations’ Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights. In addition, we support the principles contained within the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises, and the International Labor Organization (ILO) Core Conventions on Labor Standards.
Enanta complies with the laws and regulations of the countries in which we operate, while simultaneously conducting our business and encouraging the promotion of human rights, through our own policies, standards and practices. As part of our commitment, Enanta does not tolerate child labor, forced labor or breaches of human rights at our company, throughout our partnerships and/or in our partners’ supply chains.
Code of Business Conduct and Ethics
Enanta’s reputation for integrity and excellence requires careful observance of the spirit and letter of all applicable laws and regulations, as well as a scrupulous regard for the highest standards of conduct and personal integrity. To that end, the Company has established a Code of Business Conduct and Ethics Policy. All employees are required to attest, by signature, that they have reviewed the Code of Business Conduct and Ethics Policy and are encouraged to review it yearly. In addition, our business partners, such as agents, consultants, distributors, suppliers, vendors, independent contractors and temporary employees are also expected to live up to the principles of this Code. Managers who supervise our external business partners are responsible for ensuring that they understand our standards.

Anti-Bribery and Anti-Corruption Policy
Enanta has an anti-bribery policy which includes the management of the giving and receiving of gifts and entertainment. The Company’s anti-corruption policy maintains that employees must not offer, give, solicit or receive any form of bribe or kickback anywhere in the world as bribes and kickbacks are criminal acts, strictly prohibited by law.
Anti-Harassment Policy
Enanta has a policy to maintain a working environment where no employee is harassed because of his, her or their race, color, religious creed, gender, national origin, ancestry, age, sexual orientation, gender identity/expression, known physical or mental disability, veteran status or other status protected by law.
Harassment is verbal or physical conduct that puts down or shows hostility or aversion toward an individual because of his, her or their race, color, religion, gender, national origin, age, sexual orientation, gender identity/expression, veteran status, or disability that creates an offensive, intimidating or hostile working environment, or unreasonably interferes with another employee’s work performance.
The Company does not tolerate any form of workplace harassment by supervisors, employees or by non-employees such as vendors, contractors or business associates. It is Enanta’s policy to provide a safe, non-hostile working environment for its employees.
An employee who believes that he, she or they have been the object of harassment based on race, color, religion, gender, national origin, age, sexual orientation, gender identity/expression, veteran status or disability; or who observes an incident of such harassment, should report the matter immediately to his, her or their supervisor. Any employee also may bring the complaint directly to the attention of the Human Resources Department. A prompt and appropriate investigation will be conducted, and upon completion of the investigation, the complainant and the subject of the complaint will be advised of the decision.
These policies are applicable to all Enanta employees, including senior management, and the key requirements are subject to periodic attestation.
Drug and Alcohol-Free Workplace / Smoke-Free Workplace
Enanta has adopted a policy of maintaining a workplace free of drugs and alcohol and has a smoke-free environment. This policy applies to all employees and other individuals who perform work for the Company.
Policy Prohibiting Weapons / Policy Prohibiting Workplace Violence
The carrying or possession of any type of weapon or firearm on Enanta premises is strictly and absolutely prohibited, including those persons licensed to carry concealed firearms. Any employee found to be in violation of this policy will be subject to discipline, up to and including immediate termination of employment.
In addition, Enanta has a strict policy prohibiting workplace violence. All employees, customers, vendors and business associates must be always treated with courtesy and respect. Conduct that threatens, intimidates or coerces another employee, customer, vendor or business associate – either directly or indirectly – will not be tolerated. Enanta resources may not be used to threaten, stalk or harass anyone at the workplace or outside the workplace. The Company treats threats coming from an abusive personal relationship outside of the workplace with the same concerns as it does other forms of violence.
Community Engagement
Enanta is committed to supporting worthy causes. Our Company focuses on the advancement of science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) education, and seeks to sponsor those organizations advancing and teaching any of the STEM disciplines. Equally important, we support 501(c)(3) organizations within our local community to foster engagement on a local level.
We are members of Life Science Cares, an organization that helps life science companies partner with local nonprofits that have proven records of impact in their communities. Enanta also partners with the Watertown Community Foundation to provide grants to the Watertown Public Schools to support STEM related curriculum. As part of this collaboration, the Watertown Community Foundation created CoLAB, a nonprofit organization in Watertown, MA where local life science professionals and high school educators collaborate to inspire student interest in STEM careers. Enanta employees mentor students through CoLAB, as well as give presentations about their careers and participate in lab activities. Enanta also collaborates directly with Watertown High School to host “Lunch and Learns” for students throughout the year. Enanta participates in other activities including assembling birthday party kits for FamilyAid, a Greater Boston company that aids children and parents facing homelessness and donating 500 snack packs for Youth Enrichment Services, a nonprofit organization that provides affordable sports-based youth development programming for Boston area children and teens. Enanta also participates in a yearly volunteer day for Cradles to Crayons, a nonprofit focused on ending children’s clothing insecurities.
Awards and Recognition
A team of chemical scientists from AbbVie and Enanta Pharmaceuticals received a 2023 Heroes of Chemistry Award from the American Chemical Society for advancements in treating chronic hepatitis C virus. The Heroes of Chemistry Award recognizes scientists whose use of chemistry acts as a service to society and is based on three criteria: technical merit, commercial impact, and benefit to humankind. It is the American Chemical Society’s most prestigious distinction for industrial chemists.
At an award ceremony held by the American Chemical Society, Enanta’s Chief Scientific Officer, Dr. Yat Sun Or, was acknowledged along with his team, for the discovery of glecaprevir, a protease inhibitor which is part of one of the leading treatment regimens for curing chronic HCV infection and is sold by AbbVie in numerous countries under the tradenames MAVYRET® (U.S.) and MAVIRET® (ex-U.S.) (glecaprevir/pibrentasvir).
Enanta’s commitment to patients and disease awareness has gained external recognition. Enanta and its Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Jay R. Luly, Ph.D., were honored by the American Liver Foundation and received an award at the New England Legacy Gala. The Legacy Award was given to acknowledge the Company’s and Dr. Luly’s commitment to developing cures for patients with liver disease. The American Liver Foundation highlighted the development of glecaprevir, a protease inhibitor discovered by Enanta in collaboration with AbbVie.
