When you join Enanta you open the door to many opportunities in your career journey. We continually strive for positive employee engagement. In fact, approximately 10% of our employees have been here for 15+ years. Even as we are growing, we continue to preserve the culture that makes Enanta unique.

While many people join Enanta for the professional opportunities, they quickly come to value the unique culture. Each day, employees are empowered to reach their full potential and to have fun while doing so. Our work policy blends the best parts of remote work and in-office collaboration. We believe it is important to create an environment that best supports your performance and well-being. The Enanta Experience goes beyond having cold brew coffee, great snacks and happy hours. It involves working with a group of people who truly care and are aware that for the company to be successful, everyone has to be fulfilled in their career. When you are part of the Enanta Experience, your work is noticed and rewarded, and the difference you make here matters.
Staying Connected
During the pandemic, we were seeking ways to continue employee connection, and one employee suggested the creation of a virtual book club. This program became known as READS. Employees from a wide variety of disciplines in the company chose their first book with the caveat that it was healthcare related. This inspired our CEO, Jay Luly to launch other ideas such as EATS, SNAPS, SPROUTS and JOGS.
Eats
EATS started as a virtual Enanta cooking club, sharing recipes and photos of culinary achievements. Employees created a group “Slack” channel to comment in between monthly meetings.
Snaps
SNAPS began as a virtual Enanta photography club, with employees discussing different strategies and providing equipment tips. During each meeting, a theme is planned for the month and then everyone reconvenes to share their latest pictures and favorite photo posts. Between meetings, the group shares photos they’re proud of and exchanges comments relevant to photography.
Sprouts
SPROUTS began in the Spring when Dr. Luly called on Enanta garden lovers to join a seasonal group and plant their favorite vegetables.
Jogs
When the weather started to improve, employees resumed JOGS, a running club that had started years ago. So far, employees have run the 3 Beach Minimum Half-Marathon, with plans to select other races in the future.
Reads
READS was our first engagement group and inspired our CEO to introduce other ideas. Our goal in READS is to choose engaging books related to business or healthcare that can spark some lively discussion.
Giving Back to the Community
Whether it be cleaning trash around the Charles River or volunteering at Cradles to Crayons, Enanta employees are always eager to support worthy causes.
We are committed to science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) education and our local students. For the past several years we have had Watertown High School students visit Enanta’s labs for “Lunch and Learns” with our scientists, and we have offered internships. We are also involved in activities such as partnering with Victory Programs, a Boston-based nonprofit organization, to assemble students’ backpacks for back to school season.
Core Values
At Enanta, our core values were purposefully created with our corporate vision in mind: to transform the lives of patients with curative therapies. We strive to abide by these values on a daily basis; not only to transform patients’ lives, but to foster a culture of collaboration and inclusion within our company.

Jonathan Lloyd
Senior Associate Scientist, Biochemistry
What is your role at Enanta?
I am a biochemist and I work to develop and perform biochemical assays needed for Enanta’s biology program.
Why did you join Enanta?
I really liked that Enanta was a small but growing company that already had a product on the market which ensured stability for the company.
How did you get into the biochemistry field?
I’ve always known since a young age I wanted to help people when I was older. I started with Biomedical Engineering and in college and switched to pharmaceutical sciences which turned into my biochemistry job at Enanta.
What do you think is the most important challenge for the biopharmaceutical industry?
Funding. I feel like in a perfect world with unlimited funds, all avenues could be explored. I wouldn’t be surprised if many failed tested compounds for one disease might be beneficial for others. But without collaboration and funding to pursue these opportunities they never get explored.
What would be the one word to describe the team at Enanta?
Inclusive
What is the best career advice you got when starting out?
Do what you love, and you’ll never work a day in your life. Cliché I know, but I was actually told this and it couldn’t be more true.
What did you like to do when you were young that you wish you could do more as an adult?
I had two dreams, I wanted to be the Boston Red Sox shortstop or the lead singer in a rock band. Neither came to fruition and I became a scientist, my third dream.
What do you do for fun when you’re not at work?
I enjoy reading, playing sports, video games and volunteering for special Olympics softball, football and basketball as a partner and coach.
Brendan Luu
Chief Business Officer
What is your role at Enanta?
I lead business development, which involves the various aspects of negotiating and establishing key strategic partnerships for the company.
Why did you join Enanta?
I joined the company in January 2021 after having been working in Big Pharma for 17 years. I decided that I wanted to broaden my perspectives and work more in a smaller, entrepreneurial environment where I could make a real impact.
How did you get into the business of business development?
I became interested in M&A and deal making while attending business school in NYC. I did some networking in banking and eventually went into business development in the biopharmaceutical field because of my interest in medicine.
What do you think is the most important challenge for the biopharmaceutical industry?
The biggest challenge is how to get therapies to patients faster and more efficiently as an industry. The lightning pace in which highly effective vaccines and treatments have been developed and authorized for COVID-19 shows we have the capability to improve.
What would be the one word to describe the team at Enanta?
Relentless
What is the best career advice you got when starting out?
Knowing what you don’t want to do is also important.
What did you like to do when you were young that you wish you could do more as an adult?
Playing outside with friends!
What do you do for fun when you’re not at work?
I love spending time outdoors, being active and enjoying nature. My favorite activities are hiking, running, skiing, and fishing with my family.

Why did you join Enanta?
I wanted to work for a place that is helping people, while also building my experience to further in my career.
How did you get into Finance & Accounting work?
I majored in accounting in college because of the universal application in business. Every enterprise needs accounting, tax and finance support so the world opened up when I graduated college.
What do you think is the most important challenge for the biopharmaceutical industry?
Staying profitable to be able to pay competitive wages to top tier scientists while also making the drugs/products affordable for the patients who need them.
What would be the one word to describe the team at Enanta?
Teamwork
What is the best career advice you got when starting out?
Talk with your teammates who have been in the industry longer than you have and be willing to actively listen. Never shy away from asking questions.
What did you like to do when you were young that you wish you could do more as an adult?

I love running, hiking and the general outdoors. I also enjoy spending time with my cat Pumpkin.
Yolanda Bell
Director, Clinical Supply Chain Operations
What is your role at Enanta?
I oversee Enanta’s supply chain operations and currently manage a clinical supply team responsible for handling the “end to end” process as well as global distribution and transportation of clinical trial materials.
Why did you join Enanta?
I joined Enanta because I felt a strong team environment within the CMC team during the interview process. I was also impressed by the company’s pipeline. What made me come here versus another company was the impressive pipeline. I felt the company was innovative and would strive to advance the clinical pipeline and be successful because of the robust financial backing.
How did you get into the clinical supply chain field?
I got into the clinical supply chain field 25+ years ago at Janssen Pharmaceutical by chance. There was an opportunity in clinical supplies, I took it and I’ve been doing it ever since. I love the complex logistics, the challenges and the feeling of accomplishment.
What do you think is the most important challenge for the biopharmaceutical industry?
The challenges of product development:
- Cost of doing business
- Productivity
- Quality
- Patient safety
What would be the one word to describe the team at Enanta?
Innovative

Be your best self to do your best work.

What do you do for fun when you’re not at work?
I love to cook and entertain.
Josh Klaene
Senior Scientist, DMPK
What is your role at Enanta?
I’m a scientist in DMPK where I work with my team to characterize the absorption, distribution, metabolism, and excretion of our drug candidates to assess their safety.
Why did you join Enanta?
I have a personal connection with Enanta’s goal to develop a treatment for RSV – a virus that put my newborn preemie son in the pediatric ICU for 17 days. With this experience in my recent past, I wanted to join the company’s effort to develop a safe and effective treatment for RSV infection.
How did you get into your specific field?
I became a scientist through trial and error. As a kid, I wanted to become a veterinarian, but my first volunteer opportunity at a local clinic quickly established my lack of fortitude for this line of work. I explored other fields of science and eventually majored in biochemistry in college. In graduate school, my focus shifted to bioanalytical chemistry. DMPK is a perfect mix of biology and analytical chemistry for me.
What do you think is the most important challenge for the biopharmaceutical industry?
A major challenge for the biopharmaceutical industry will be meeting the demands of a growing global population with ever-increasing access to medical care in developing countries.
What would be the one word to describe the team at Enanta?
Transformative
What is the best career advice you got when starting out?
“Do something meaningful.” Enanta has helped cure more than one million patients with Hepatitis C virus. I love being a part of this endeavor.
What did you like to do when you were young that you wish you could do more as an adult?
Mountain biking. All my free time through high school and college was spent riding trails on my bike.
What do you do for fun when you’re not at work?
When I’m not at work, you can find me attending one of my daughter’s dance or theater performances, my son’s soccer games, or relaxing on the beach with my wife.
